Mary Jeanne Kuhar, MD
Dr. Kuhar moved to Bend in 1988 and was in private practice in Obstetrics and Gynecology for ten years. Although she left private practice in 1998, she maintains a connection with St. Charles where she still serves on the Bioethics Committee. As a physician, she became aware of the healthcare needs of rural areas and the vast distances some patients in Oregon must travel to obtain care.  She also saw first hand the problems people lacking access to healthcare faced.  Before beginning a career at Central Oregon Community College, Dr. Kuhar worked as an interim Medical Director for Central Oregon Independent Health Services (now Clear Choice Health Plans).  As a result of this experience, she became interested in healthcare policy and how it affects large groups of individuals.

As a college current administrator and previous Allied Health assistant professor at Central Oregon Community College, Kuhar works with students entering a variety of health related careers including nursing, Dental Assisting, Medical Assisting, Health and Information Technology.  She worked with community and statewide partners to develop a new statewide online Pharmacy Technician program. She is also involved in distance education collaborative program planning for Radiology Technology and Medical Lab Technician. Kuhar looks forward to working with HealthMatters of Central Oregon to develop and implement innovative strategies that improve health of the Central Oregon community.

Born in Greensburg Pennsylvania, Kuhar has resided in Bend since 1988. She is married to John Aubry, Jr, with adult two sons (Michael working in Portland as an engineer and Joseph, recent graduate of University of Oregon).
