Bev Clarno
Bev ClarnoBev Clarno, a rancher from Central Oregon, is a former Speaker of the House of Representatives.  Bev Clarno was born I Langlois, Oregon, and as a young child moved to Terrebonne.  She grew up milking cows, picking potatoes, and setting irrigation pipe in the high desert.  Bev married and moved to Sherman County where she raised her four children.  She was a wheat farmer and a hog rancher.  Bev was a Cub Scout den mother, a Sunday School teacher and an organizer of many community and country activities. 

In the mid 1970’s, Bev Clarno moved to Lake Oswego where she earned her Bachelor’s Degree at a Marylhurst College and attended law school.

Bev Clarno is well known as a consistent opponent of taxes and proponent of a smaller more efficient government.  She has been called the “watchdog for the taxpayers” for her efforts to ensure that government is accountable to the taxpayer.  As Speaker of the House, Bev Clarno led the effort to balance the budget without new taxes and to return more than $320 million in excess tax money to individuals and businesses. 

Bev Clarno and her husband, Ray, own a hay and cattle ranch east of Bend.
